Grandma time with Kyle

I get to play with Kyle while Katie goes for her regular Dr. visits. Since the Dr. is close to their house I go over there. This last time I brought a Dr. kit. He seemed to want to play with the Dr tools when he was in the hospital this last time. When he took each item out of the bag, he knew just what each was for.

Every little bit helps him get higher to reach things he probably shouldn't have. The dominoes Brad made, are just beautiful.

He is a climber. He is always excited to see me, and it is fun to "read" to him, and have him say the animal sounds.

Easter

This is the beginning of the fun. Nora is wearing a bunny hat that she made. They both are wearing the aprons they made. The girls put the Easter Eggs on the cupcakes. Traditionally they should have had green coconut grass. But, grandma doesn't like coconut. Did you know they don't sell green frosting at the store, so a little green food coloring in the Lemon flavored frosting, gave the effect of grass.

This is the finished product in the cute cup cake holder. It made a beautiful center piece for our Easter Dinner. Good job Nora and Sara. Thanks for your help

The Boys took the Girls to Disney Land

Andy and Sam took the girls to Disneyland. They had a great time. Andy gets dizzy on the carousel ride, so he told them he would be the "Wave Person". The ride isn't any fun if you don't have someone to wave to. If you look closely you can see Sam, but I don't think he was waving.

Fun with Kyle

I had the best time with Kyle the other day. I have enjoyed taking care of him when Katie has had Dr. appointments. The picture has nothing to do with the story, it was taken at Sara Birthday Party. But I digress. I knocked on the door, and when Katie opened it, Kyle was standing on the other side of the room. He looked at me and I got one of his rare smiles, he turned and ran into his bedroom. In a few minutes he brought out a puzzle, brought it to where I was sitting, and that is what he wanted to play with, with his grandma. How precious. On another note. He has been so healthly this first 20 months of his life. But he has caught something. Not sure what. He is in Loma Linda Pedatric Intensive Care Unit. We would appricate your prayers.

Mia Grandma Day

I had my first real Mia Grandma Day. We were all a little nervous how this would turn out. I met Sam at the park and we made the exchange. Last time she got into my car with out her mother, she was hysterical! This time she was bewildered. I chatted with her all the way home, with all kinds of ideas of things we could do on our special day. Nora and Sara come with their list all ready. We played in the grandma room. The beads were not a success, and not much interest in the puzzles. She liked the little doll house, complete with a grandma and grandpa, and a pair of missionaries. Still looking around for her sisters. I think she was surprised that she could move the figures, and furniture, and no one else came and changed it. About an hour into the day she fully realized that no one else was here. She had Grandma all to her self, and she wasn't going to get interrupted! She knew what she wanted. Books. So we read, and read, and read. She would go get a book, bring it back to me, hop in my lap, we would read it, and then the process would start again. She wouldn't bring over more than one book at a time, and we almost emptied the basket. I am looking forward to another Mia Grandma day soon!

Fun Times

Friday, Holly and the girls invited me to go to Disneyland with them. What fun I had. Mia loved Small World, wouldn't stop pointing at every thing. She was in the front of the boat and had a great time. We went on the Story Book Land ride, (my favorite) at night. It was lit up so pretty. We went on Buzz Lightyear. My first time. Sara said that she didn't swing the car around, but Nora did, so I went with Sara. The little stinker, she hardly shot anything...she just pulled and pushed the swing knob. I am surprised I hit anything. 6500 points, I thought I did quite well...until I looked at the chart. L2...what! Just wait until next time. We also went on the Jungle Cruise, I think Nora wanted to go there, because that is where the pickles are. They were really good dill pickles! Disneyland has changed in the last 12 years since we have been there. It will be fun going again. I found a Disneyland Souvenir book from the early 60's in Moms papers. What a trip down memory lane.
I am going to need to learn how to use the camera on my phone. No pictures this time.

My Helper

I can't believe that I didn't take any pictures. I always document my special days with my grandchildren. Nora came today (she had one of those school days where there were teachers and no students). We take advantage of those days otherwise we don't get many Nora Grandma Days during the school year. I needed help getting Christmas Decorations down. She was one hard worker. She did the job no one likes, putting the bulky decorations under the stairs. We need a little person to do this because it is very cramped under there. She set up the lights and with out complaint did the job. She put away the "Little People Nativity". Which is up to 4 boxes worth, and then we undecorated the tree with all the breakable ornaments that have stories. She wanted to hear the stories. :) I had so much fun!! It took us a long time. We even got out the poem, and the marble from the "Marble at Hole in the Rock" ornament, which gave me a chance to talk about her 3rd great grandfather. I really want my kids and grandkids to know about and to appreciate their ancestors.
During lunch, which was Corn Dogs (yum), she looked at me and asked, "Grandma why are you wearing 2 tee shirts?", I explained that the pink one was a "V" neck that I thought was cut a little low, so that is why I was wearing the other one. I wanted to dress modestly. Then I asked her, "Do you know what the word "modest" means?", Nora's reply was, "Sure I do grandma, it means dressing like Heavenly Father wants us to!"
Thank you Holly and Sam, for being such amazing parents.
