DWTS

Last year we put in a request to get tickets to DWTS, and yesterday at about 11:20 Andy got an Email that said we had tickets to that days taping of DWTS! He called me, came home from work and by 2:30 we were in line. We were numbers 188, and 189. We would have been 75 and 76 if we didn't have to park a mile away in the first parking garage we could find. There was an enterprising young man at the sidewalk selling water, and soda, and renting beach chairs. Andy noticed when he opened his briefcase to put the money in, he put it inside a Book of Mormon. They were letting people in a few at a time, and by 4:00 we knew we wouldn't be in the Pre-Tape portion of the show. But by 5 we were ushered it just before the show itself started taping. So if you watched it we are in the balcony behind the judges in the far right corner. We could pick out Andy, he was wearing a beige sport coat, in a "sea of black". It was a fun experience. We were surprised that the floor was so small, how small the people are, and how different it looks on TV. The stage in front of the band at the bottom of the stars looks like it sparkles on TV, that is to hide all the different colored pieces of tape to show people where to stand. They were constantly sweeping the dance floor every commercial break. The clapping was so loud we couldn't hear Tom the announcer. In our excitement we didn't have anything to eat before we left. The vending machine was doing a pretty brisk business. We had to go through security, no cell phones or electronic devices allowed inside, they were taken, labeled and returned after the show. I don't know why I thought this was a one hour show, I thought the first hour was just clips from the previous nights show(you can tell I DVR it, and then have my finger on the fast forward button). Anyway Ralph and Karina are gone, next week is the finals. A warning to my granddaughters, no Mickey Mouse Club next Monday night......Grandma is voting! Lets see, we have 3 cell phones, one land line, and 3 Email addresses....

Mia got the biggest Laugh

When Mia was eating her corn on the cob, she picked up everything. Even the corn tray!

Grandma time with Kyle

I get to play with Kyle while Katie goes for her regular Dr. visits. Since the Dr. is close to their house I go over there. This last time I brought a Dr. kit. He seemed to want to play with the Dr tools when he was in the hospital this last time. When he took each item out of the bag, he knew just what each was for.

Every little bit helps him get higher to reach things he probably shouldn't have. The dominoes Brad made, are just beautiful.

He is a climber. He is always excited to see me, and it is fun to "read" to him, and have him say the animal sounds.

Easter

This is the beginning of the fun. Nora is wearing a bunny hat that she made. They both are wearing the aprons they made. The girls put the Easter Eggs on the cupcakes. Traditionally they should have had green coconut grass. But, grandma doesn't like coconut. Did you know they don't sell green frosting at the store, so a little green food coloring in the Lemon flavored frosting, gave the effect of grass.

This is the finished product in the cute cup cake holder. It made a beautiful center piece for our Easter Dinner. Good job Nora and Sara. Thanks for your help

The Boys took the Girls to Disney Land

Andy and Sam took the girls to Disneyland. They had a great time. Andy gets dizzy on the carousel ride, so he told them he would be the "Wave Person". The ride isn't any fun if you don't have someone to wave to. If you look closely you can see Sam, but I don't think he was waving.

Fun with Kyle

I had the best time with Kyle the other day. I have enjoyed taking care of him when Katie has had Dr. appointments. The picture has nothing to do with the story, it was taken at Sara Birthday Party. But I digress. I knocked on the door, and when Katie opened it, Kyle was standing on the other side of the room. He looked at me and I got one of his rare smiles, he turned and ran into his bedroom. In a few minutes he brought out a puzzle, brought it to where I was sitting, and that is what he wanted to play with, with his grandma. How precious. On another note. He has been so healthly this first 20 months of his life. But he has caught something. Not sure what. He is in Loma Linda Pedatric Intensive Care Unit. We would appricate your prayers.

Mia Grandma Day

I had my first real Mia Grandma Day. We were all a little nervous how this would turn out. I met Sam at the park and we made the exchange. Last time she got into my car with out her mother, she was hysterical! This time she was bewildered. I chatted with her all the way home, with all kinds of ideas of things we could do on our special day. Nora and Sara come with their list all ready. We played in the grandma room. The beads were not a success, and not much interest in the puzzles. She liked the little doll house, complete with a grandma and grandpa, and a pair of missionaries. Still looking around for her sisters. I think she was surprised that she could move the figures, and furniture, and no one else came and changed it. About an hour into the day she fully realized that no one else was here. She had Grandma all to her self, and she wasn't going to get interrupted! She knew what she wanted. Books. So we read, and read, and read. She would go get a book, bring it back to me, hop in my lap, we would read it, and then the process would start again. She wouldn't bring over more than one book at a time, and we almost emptied the basket. I am looking forward to another Mia Grandma day soon!
